Rachel Talbot
Rachel was born in Staffordshire in 1984 into a family of artists, so art, and in particular sculpture was the backdrop of her childhood. Working and playing with clay became second nature and constructive criticism was always available: A must! So she was told for any young artist!!
She has always loved to read and her passion for literature spans from a childhood immersed in Beatrix Potter and Grimes Fairy Tales, right through to Charles Dickens and Jane Austen. These writers along with her favourite illustrator Arthur Rackham, have influenced her work a great deal, as they drew her in with tales of another world and inspirational images of times forgotten. Rachel wishes for whoever looks upon her sculpture, to take a little merriment from the images that people her world.
She works in a variety of materials, but mainly clay as it has an immediate quality that allows her to work quickly to capture a particular gestures or moment, giving the animation to her work that she strive for.
